The development of new diagnostic, monitoring and therapeutic devices aimed at improving the quality of care for patients with chronic diseases is the main objective of goal of the SINBAD bioengineering project , which involves the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and led by the technology center CEIT-ik4.

The research is structured in 5 business lines led by a consortium of about fifty researchers from various disciplines belonging to research and development centers such as IKERLAN, CSIC, CNM, CIMAThe research is led by a consortium of around fifty researchers from centers such as IKERLAN, CSIC, CNM, the Universities of Zaragoza, Seville, Las Palmas de Gran Canarias and Politécnica de Madrid, and the companies Saludnova, Integromics, Oiarso, Alma IT Systems and Viscofan.

Felipe Prosper Cardoso, José Leiva León, José Luis del Pozo and Mª José Blanco Prieto are at the head of the research groups participating in the different subprojects of this ambitious bioengineering project from Clínica Universidad de Navarra.

The project SINBAD tries to bring together the programs of study of a wide range of disciplines, which when properly combined have the potential to provide solutions to a large issue of problems in the medical and healthcare field. Specifically, the target groups that will benefit directly from SINBAD's activities are the elderly and patients with chronic diseases, although the impact is global in society as a whole.
