The French Society of Nanomedicine (SFNANO) has awarded the award of thesis of the year 2020 to Carlos Rodriguez Nogales in recognition of the significant contribution of his work in the field of nanomedicine. In fact, the research carried out by Carlos has resulted in the publication of several articles in high impact scientific journals including ACS Nano or Cancers.
The goal of this thesis , developed in the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition, focuses on the improvement of current chemotherapy protocols in the treatment of pediatric cancer through the development of nanoparticles. The research on nanomedicines against childhood cancer has been carried out at the University of Navarra at partnership with the University Paris-Sud and has been financed by the Spanish Society against Cancer (AECC) and the NEN Foundation (Nico against cancer).
The now PhD was awarded in October of this same year with the award extraordinary thesis awarded by the doctoral program of Medicines and Health of the University. During the course of his thesis , he also received the award for the best oral communication at the international symposium"Drug Discovery and New Therapeutics", held in Orsay (France) in April 2018.
Carlos Rodríguez's thesis was directed by Prof. María Blanco Prieto and Prof. Patrick Couvreur, a nano-oncologist at the Université Paris Sud.
