In the last edition of Career Management Week, a week of training at career guidance and preparation for selection processes, the alumni of the School who work in the Marketing and FMCG sector shared their experiences in the labor market, in a roundtable attended by nearly 200 students.

The alumni, coming from companies such as Mondelez, Nestlé, Bridgestone and Aldi, agreed on the fact that the sector is going through a process of professionalization in which people with a more commercial profile are increasingly required and in which it is valued to have started from the bottom so that later, in higher level positions, you have the knowledge of how the sales process works.

The participants of the roundtable assure that this sector is very dynamic, with many challenges and in which specific technical skills are required, such as: mastering more than one language or knowing the ins and outs of spreadsheets. Along the same lines, the participants believe that marketing is not just about making advertising, but rather an art that requires a lot of data analysis, many tests and in which everything is defended with data.

On the other hand, they advised students not to follow the seemingly easy path of choosing a trendy sector. Instead, they suggested that attendees do an exercise in self-knowledge to determine what they are really passionate about. And, in turn, take advantage of the courses and activities offered by the University.

The roundtable was composed by: Macarena Guerrero (ADE '14), Trade Marketing Specialist at Mondelez; Ignacio Ferrer (ECO'09), Area Manager at Aldi; Pilar Hinojo (ADE '15), Marketing Product Manager at Nestlé; and Daniel Gil (ADE '14), Operations Controller at Bridgestone Europe.
