Luis Miguel Baquerizo (Master's Degree E-MENU 16) is now Professor of Nutrition at San Ignacio de Loyola University in Lima (Peru).

Luis Miguel explains that he came to the University of Navarra, from Peru, attracted by the international prestige of the EuropeanMaster's Degree in Food, Nutrition and Metabolism (E-MENU) of the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition of the University of Navarra. Once completed, he assures that doing the postgraduate program "is an excellent cover letter before any institution". In his case, it has helped him to become a professor and researcher at the Peruvian Cayetano Heredia and San Ignacio de Loyola Universities in the Andean capital.

What does your current work consist of and how do you apply the knowledge acquired at Master's Degree?
I dedicate myself to the undergraduate universityteaching and postgraduate program and to the research in the degree program of Nutrition of the University San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL). I also investigate, in a laboratory at 4,300 meters above sea level, the characteristics of nutrition at high altitudes; as well as the association between chronotype, sleep disorders and cardiovascular risk. In the teaching, having had first level teachers in the Master's Degree E-MENU has shown me the way to follow to be a good teacher, maintain a constant update and motivation to share the knowledge.

How has the postgraduate program of the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition of the University of Navarra helped you in the development of your degree program?
E-MENU is an internationally recognized program for its quality. That is why doing the Master's Degree is an excellent cover letter before any institution.

What knowledge did you acquire that you consider differential for your professional career?
One of the most differential is the approach towards Personalized and Precision Nutrition. I found the Nutrigenomics and Nutrigenetics classes to be decisive. In addition, the possibility of carrying out an experimental study as a final work Master's Degree allowed me to learn methods and techniques from laboratory that are not taught at degree program in Nutrition.

Why would you advise a graduate interested in the field of Nutrition to take the Master's Degree E-MENU?
First of all, because of the quality of the Education and the high level of the professors. Also for the good organization and the kind and constant support from the management assistant part of the School and the University for any procedure. I would also recommend the postgraduate program for the variety of alternatives for the work End of Master's Degree, facilitated by the fact that the same professors who give class lead lines of research. You also have the opportunity to participate in international academic events and contact the latest in specialized research .

In addition, I would highlight the atmosphere of the University itself, completely international - in my class, for example, we were students from 5 countries, which led to a very enriching cultural and academic exchange -.

Do you perceive, at the international level, that nutrition is gaining specific weight in the research? And in society in general?
Yes, I do. For several years now, society in general has considered nutrition as an important factor in the treatment and prevention of diseases, which translates into more resources (economic and human) for the research in Nutrition and in the interrelation between pathologies and nutrition.
