The historian of the University of Navarra Antonio Cañellas has just published the political biography of Laureano López Rodó in the publishing house Library Services Nueva.

The book is the result of a research in which he has studied in detail the file staff of the biographer, complemented with other archival and bibliographical sources that allow the reader to get a precise idea of the importance of one of the most prominent ministers of the Franco regime during the sixties.

The analysis of his entire life trajectory, from his birth in Barcelona in 1920 until his death in Madrid in 2000, is, at the same time, a review of the history of Spain in the twentieth century -of which the author is a specialist- and provides the keys to understand the events of the time in which the professional and political activity of López Rodó is inserted.

According to the historian, his leading role in the Príncipe operation and in the economic modernization of the country "will allow the reader to know the ideological substratum of the character, deployed both in the long process of institutionalization of the Franco regime, as well as in the years of the Transition, with his participation in the constitutional debates as deputy of Alianza Popular for Barcelona and his involvement as promoter of the ideas of the conservative revolution in Spain until the year 2000".
