Getting to know the Honduran reality of childhood cancer

School Belén Ochoa, professor of Education and Psychology at the University of Navarra, has traveled to Honduras at the invitation of the Honduran Foundation for Children with Cancer.

The professor of the School of Education and PsychologyBelén Ochoa, has traveled to Honduras accompanied by doctoral student Elna Victoria Bendeck Flores, to learn about the reality of childhood cancer in that country. This trip has, among other objectives, to propose an application internship of educational orientation for families of oncological children treated from the Honduran Foundation for Children with Cancer. This project is part of the development of the thesis doctoral thesis of the Honduran student Elna Victoria Bendeck Flores, directed by Professor Ochoa.

Throughout these days, they have had the opportunity to attend to workshop of work at the University School Hospital in Tegucigalpa, capital of the country, where they have been able to visit the facilities that the Foundation has in the hospital to work with children with cancer and have been able to approach the Honduran reality of childhood cancer.

Likewise, a lecture addressed to more than 100 professionals related to the field of Children's Health and a meeting took place between the Navarre professor and different parents of families who are currently being cared for by the Foundation.

During her stay, Professor Ochoa was accompanied by the president of the Foundation, Nubia Mendoza de Zúñiga, by the Foundation's psychologist, Graciela Flores, and by Dr. Armando Peña, director of the Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Service of the Hospital.
