126 students from high school diploma from Navarra participated in the two tests

The School of Sciences of the University of Navarra submission this afternoon gave diplomas to the winners of the regional phases of the Olympiads of Chemistry and Biology. The winners are Miguel Nuño Viguria, from high school Jesuitas de Pamplona, in Biology; and Nabor Jiménez Segura, from I.E.S. Alhama de Corella, in Chemistry. A total of 126 students from 24 schools and institutes of the region participated in the two tests.

Likewise, Ana Castiella García, from high school San Ignacio de Pamplona, and Alejandro Urdiciain Ezpeleta, from I.E.S. Marqués de Villena de Marcilla, came in second and third place, respectively, in the regional phase of Biology. Both of them, together with Miguel Nuño, will participate in the national phase of the test, which will take place in Granada from March 31 to April 3.

Alejandro Urdiciain has also obtained the second place in the regional phase of Chemistry, where framework Ojer de Andrés, from I.E.S. place de la Cruz de Pamplona, has been in third place. The national phase of this competition will be held in Valencia from April 29 to May 1.

There they will compete for a place in the international phase, which will be held in Ankara (Turkey), from July 9 to 18. The four runners-up will be able to attend to the XVI Ibero-American Olympiad of Chemistry in Teresianas (Brazil), from September 16 to 24.

Prizes and additional training
Apart from the diploma, the winners of the regional phase of Chemistry -organized by the high school Oficial de Químicos at partnership with the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra- will receive three prizes of 380, 285 and 220 euros for the first, second and third places, respectively.

In the case of Biology, the top four will compete in the international phase, which will be held in Taiwan in July. Those who qualify for the international phase will receive an additional training for a week at the research center Applied Medicine (CIMA) and at the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra.
