The high school diploma studentsMaría Ayesa, from Miravalles-El Redín high school ; Carlota Álvarez Urtasun, from Nuestra Señora del Huerto high school ; and Begoña Miralles, from Liceo Monjardín, have won the X Philosophy X of Navarra, in the categories of essay, photography and philosophical video respectively. The competition took place last February at the University of Navarra and was attended by more than a hundred high school diploma and 4th ESO students from 19 schools in Navarra. The winners of each category will represent the Comunidad Foral in the Philosophical Olympiad of Spain, to be held during the month of May.
In the modality of essay have also been awarded Delia Alexandra Dinca, from IES Navarro Villoslada (2nd award); and Fernando Sánchez-Carpintero, from high school Miravalles-El Redín(3rd award). On the other hand, the students María Pinto (high school Miravalles-El Redín), Pablo Calderón (high school Irabia-Izaga) and María Chérrez (high school San Ignacio) have received a second prize.
In the modality of philosophical photography, Ainhoa Pagola, from IES Navarro Villoslada; and Silvia Moreno, from high school San Cernin, have won the second and third award respectively. The second award in the category of philosophical video went to group formed by the students of high school Nuestra Señora del Huerto, Ana Isabel Ripa, Carlota Álvarez Urtasun and María Olasagarre.
Alejandro Martínez Carrasco, professor at the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra and one of the organizers of the University of Navarra and one of the organizers, pointed out that the members of the organization are very happy with the participation and the development of the Olympiad, which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary: "Despite the current status , the great issue of participants -even with capacity limitations- and the good level of the essays, photographs and videos show us again the growing interest of the young generations for free and open thought and reflection". He also stressed that "young people have a lot to contribute to the current complex debates, such as Freedom vs. security, the topic of this year's Olympiad, as was evident in the final discussion among the attendees at the awards ceremony submission ".
