In a playful and festive atmosphere, the five teams of the Tantaka Basketball Workshop participated in the place 3x3 Circuit held last Saturday at place del Castillo, Pamplona. Of the five Tantaka teams, three qualified for the final where they faced selection teams.

The teams are made up of children between the ages of 8 and 17, mostly students from high school San Jorge Public School.

The event, organized by the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) and CaixaBank, was attended by 1,200 players and almost 2,500 participants. A special guest was Fernando Romay, Olympic basketball silver medalist (1984), who led a clinic where he showed different skills of the game.

Success is the fruit of teamwork work

The Tantaka Basketball Workshop is a project of the Solidarity Time Bank of the University of Navarra directed by Teresa Gutiérrez Alemán, a nursing graduate, who together with eight volunteers, teach the weekly classes. "I feel proud of all of them, to see those excited faces, to see who they have become. Being able to be part of their progress is exciting and exciting," says Teresa.

This project is aimed mainly at children of immigrants who live or study in the San Jorge neighborhood and seeks, through basketball, to reinforce the social integration of children and young people. Teresa is confident that the internship team sport promotes friendship, improves self-esteem and allows them to learn Spanish easily.
