Spanish researchers and influencers talked with 1,100 young people to help them build eternal love at the Despierta by Infinity event, held in the auditorium of The Westin Camino Real Hotel in Guatemala City. Engaged couples, married couples, educators and all those who yearn to find the deepest meaning in their lives quotation this meeting marked by inspirational talks by the speakers and an enriching dialogue among the attendees. The event sought to provide answers to the questions that young people ask themselves in an environment where immediacy destabilizes bonds and where the fear of commitment and the vertigo of social networks are a constant challenge to establish solid loving relationships.
The sold-out attendance reflects the growing interest of young people in healthy, satisfying and lasting interpersonal relationships. Among the highlights of the workshop, Alfonso Osorio, principal researcher of the 'Infinity: family, love and sexuality' research group of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra (Spain), spoke about the value of integrated sexuality and its difference with current views: "The body is the language of the soul; sex is the language of love. An integrated vision of sex is a core topic to overcome the current vision, which often generates a feeling of emptiness or frustration". In this line, Jokin de Irala, Full Professor in Public Health at the University of Navarra and speaker at Despierta, explained the importance of sharing this message: "We have to make an effort to show the beauty of love to young people, they desire and seek good love and accept it as a light that illuminates the path they have to follow towards that love".
Among the young influencers who participated in the event, Carla Restoy highlighted the complementarity of men and women: "We all identify in our hearts an enormous desire to be loved and it seems that nothing in this world satisfies us. The world has anesthetized us, we have to remember who we are. Both men and women need each other and we are an adequate financial aid ". In this sense, Alvaro Quesada shared that "we have to learn to dominate our passions not managed by love, to be masters and lords of ourselves without letting ourselves be carried away by our emotions. Men and women are different scores that together form a perfect and beautiful symphony.
The event was also attended by researchers and experts in affectivity and sexuality Carolina Lupo (Argentina) and Dania Andrade (Guatemala) and Spanish influencer Joan Folch. Guatemala was the first place on the continent to host this initiative, which has already been held in different parts of Spain. This meeting was made possible thanks to the partnership of dozens of young volunteers who helped and supported the development the workshop.
