A researcher from the University, awarded at the XLIII Annual meeting of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology
Sofia Neddermann Carrillo, awarded as one of the best papers presented by young staff researcher , analyzes interventions to reduce binge drinking, tobacco and/or cannabis use among students.

Sofia Nedderman Carrillo, PhD student at the School of Nursing of the University of Navarra, has received the award of the XLIII Annual meeting of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology for one of the best papers presented by a young staff researcher . She is a graduate in nursing from the University of Navarra (2021) and did her Master of Science in Health Education and Promotion at Maastricht University, The Netherlands (2022).
The award was presented at the XX Congresso da Associação Portuguesa de Epidemiologia, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The winning paper, entitled "Effective Interventions to Prevent Binge Drinking, Tobacco, and Cannabis Use in University Students: A Systematic Review"seeks to evaluate the efficacy of face-to-face interventions designed to reduce binge drinking, tobacco and/or cannabis use, as well as the co-use of at least two of these substances, among university students aged 18 to 24 years, taking into account the gender perspective.
The project presented at the congress is part of the doctoral thesis she is currently working on, supervised by Dr. Miren Idoia Pardavila BelioSchool of Nursing at the University of Navarra) and Dr. Cristina Martínez Martínez (Catalan Institute of Oncology and the University of Barcelona). It is entitled "design and feasibility of an intervention to reduce Alcohol Binge Drinking and Cannabis and Tobacco use in student body University: ACTUA study.".
"This award is a recognition of the effort and dedication of this project, and an impulse to continue working on a current and worrying topic on campus," says Sofia.
