74 student-athletes are part of the University Sports Talent Program
The Alumni Vice President , Tomás Gómez-Acebo, received the participants, who combine the university degree program with the internship performance sports.
The Alumni Vice President of the University of Navarra, Tomás Gómez-Acebo, has received in the Hall of Degrees the students who participate in the Sports Talent Program. The initiative, whose goal is to offer a comprehensive financial aid to students who combine the degree program university with the internship sports performance, has a total of 74 participants in this fourth edition.
Among others, the Navarrese players Antonio Bazán (National Handball National Team), María Contreras (Silver Medal in the European ParaTaekwondo Championship), Maialen Guelbenzu (3rd in the International Young Promises Tournament in Wrestling), Miguel Olavide (player of Club Atlético Osasuna) and Nicolás Quijera (Spanish Junior Record in Athletics and 16th in the European Junior Championship) stand out.
"The University would like to congratulate you for your effort, because you are able to combine sports with your studies and, in addition, you are an example for your classmates," said Vice President during the ceremony.
Before the reception, the students took part in the first session on the values of sport. School of Architecture in the first session of training on the values of sport. Under the title degree scroll "The secrets of success in sport", it was given by Gerardo Castillo, doctor in Pedagogy and author of the book How I conquered glory. "In the current time of crisis of values, it is essential that parents, teachers and coaches work as a team," he said. He also stressed that "great achievements in sports are not improvised, it is a long and persevering conquest; the patient work , well done and maintained over time".

In exchange for joining the Program, participants are provided with a reinforcement of tutorial; the possibility of obtaining up to 2 credits ECTS credit per course; the entrance in the Nutrition and Sports Nutrition Program; a special physical maintenance plan; a continuous special medical follow-up; a tutor sports-staff that guides them through the University; and a specific training plan through the programs of study Olympic Center.
