Francisco Varo Pineda is a mathematician, priest, doctor in Philosophy and Letters and doctor in Theology. He is a professor at the School of Theology at the University of Navarra, where he teaches the regular courses of Pentateuch, Historical Books, and Biblical Hebrew language at first cycle, as well as Biblical Theology of the Old Testament at second cycle. He is fluent in Latin, Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic. He has published numerous scientific articles and some specialized monographs on texts of the Hebrew Bible, but he is also the author of books for the general public such as "Do you know how to read the Bible?" or"Rabbi Jesus of Nazareth", and co-author of"50 questions about Jesus", with several paper editions and with more than four million downloads on the Internet.

Now the publishing house Planeta publishes"La Biblia para hipsters", a book that the author himself describes as "the bible of the Bible".

Why "the Bible of the Bible"?

Anyone who goes to bookshop can discover there from "The triathlete's bible" to "The bible of caring for your child", which are affordable and enjoyable books where you can find all the information you need about any topic you are interested in. Why not consider writing a book like this about the Bible: funny, surprising and with serious and reliable information about the biggest bestseller of all times?

Why for hipsters?

Who says hipsters means modern people, with their own personality, lovers of nature and technology, capable of independently investigating the truth of things, and of making their decisions outside the socially established. People who are curious about the Bible, but would not buy a "pious" book, because they prefer something fresher, more direct, and a little transgressor.

Is the Bible still the most read book in history?

There are literary works in recent times, such as "The Lord of the Rings," that have outsold it for several years, but the Bible has been in the top ten of books for many centuries. No one has managed to stay so high for so long.

If I have already read the Bible, what is different for me?

Have you really read the entire Bible? Congratulations! Few people have. Many are content to keep it on the shelf at home and open it from time to time to peek at some of its passages. In any case, you will enjoy this book when you discover how many connections there are between what its pages hide and what you like but never imagined had to do with the Bible: from rock songs, to hit series, novels, social networks or contemporary art.

In the book there are fragments of the Bible, why have these been selected and not others?

Because it is like the trailer of a movie: a mosaic of shots and shocking scenes that allow you to get an idea of what it is about, but without spoilers -as film critics say-, without anyone telling you and gutting it, so that you feel the irresistible pull of discovering for yourself everything it contains.

Where do I start reading "The Hipster Bible"?

It's like a free buffet. Everywhere you open the book, you'll find something that will grab you and you won't be able to put it down.

In the book he talks about the existence of evil. Is it easy to become evil?

It is also easy to become good, and much more, attractive and enjoyable.
