"Hunger and malnutrition are the main health risk in the world". This was emphasized by Jordi Renart i Villa, executive of the United Nations World Food Programme. The expert intervened in a seminar organized by the Center of development International Institute for Culture and Society of the University of Navarra, coordinated by Full Professor and professor of Economics World Luis Ravina.

In this way, he highlighted the "School Meals" programs, which promote equal access to Education; "Healthy women-healthy children", based on the principle that feeding mothers contributes significantly to the prevention of child malnutrition; "Food for assets", which pays workers with food, promoting self-sufficiency; "Purchase for progress", giving the opportunity to developing countries development to supply the demand for basic necessities; and "Cash and vouchers", as instruments of attendance in food.

Changes and solutions

Jordi Renart also stated that he has witnessed the changes that have taken place in recent years in the WFP thanks to the continuous analysis of the reality faced by the poorest populations and, as a consequence, the implementation of different solutions to win the battle against hunger in the world, developing specialized systems in "Food Security Analysis" (also known as "Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping"); "Food Procurement" (providing appropriate food according to the needs of each region); and advanced logistics.

Finally, he explained the organization's work in the fight against hunger and its efforts to reach the population in greatest need, not only in emergencies, but also in the prevention of diseases related to malnutrition. Jordi Renart is graduate in Economics by the University of Navarra and Master's Degree in International Trade by the Institut d' Ètudes Politiques de Paris.
