"Theology can contribute to integrity in the face of the threat of scientific fraud that occurs in many parts of the world. Such integrity is not guaranteed by codes and regulations, but by moral attitudes such as honesty, humility, critical openness and moderate ambition". Angelo Vincenzo Zani, Secretary of the Congregation for the Catholic Education at the Holy See. His statements were made in the context of the lecture that he gave on the occasion of the celebration of patron saint of the Schools of Theology y Ecclesiastical Philosophy of the academic center.

Angelo Vincenzo Zani explained that believers cannot claim that a scientific option that pleases them, and which has not even been sufficiently proven, acquires the weight of a dogma of faith: "In that case it is not reason that is proposed, but a certain ideology that closes the way to an authentic, peaceful and fruitful dialogue". He also recalled the words of Pope Francis: "When the development of the sciences, remaining with academic rigor in the field of its specific object, makes evident a certain conclusion that reason cannot deny, faith does not contradict it".

During the lecture, which was attended by more than 200 people, including Francisco Perez, Archbishop of Pamplona, and Francisco Conesa, Bishop of Menorca, Msgr. Angelo Vincenzo Zani focused his message on three ideas: the current reality of the Church, where the invitation of Pope Francis "resounds" to go out to announce the Gospel to all; the role of Theology and the service it should play in the Church, in the university and in society; and finally, he proposed some ideas of St. Thomas Aquinas to guide the study of Theology today.

This year's celebration of the patron saint of the Ecclesiastical Schools of Philosophy and of Theology (St. Thomas Aquinas) takes on a special significance as it is framed within the year of the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the fiftieth anniversary of the School of Theology.. Angelo Vincenzo Zani, encouraged the participants to take stock of the progress made and to look ahead "identifying the strategic objectives that a School of Theology should adopt from the perspective of the service it is called to offer to the ecclesial and civil community".
