The School of Architecture the high school of Architects of Madrid pay tribute to Javier Carvajal

The workshop, organized by COAM and the University of Navarra, featured Carlos Naya, director the Higher Technical School of Architecture (ETSAUN), who emphasized the importance of passing on bequest to new generations, a professional who "left his mark on the School and on us" after 30 years of teaching Pamplona. Following the presentations, a roundtable was held, roundtable by Javier Antón, professor at the University of Navarra, and Eduardo Delgado, professor at the University of Zaragoza, and featuring Javier Carvajal, son of the honoree; Miguel Ángel Alonso del Val, Full Professor the University of Navarra; Alberto Campo Baeza and Ignacio Vicens Hualde, professors at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and alumni Carvajal.
In his speech, Javier Carvajal explained that, for his father, "architecture was a service and he conceived it for those who were going to build, enjoy, work, and live in it." For his part, Miguel Ángel Alonso del Val emphasized that "the vital importance of the University of Navarra School could not be understood without the architecture of Javier Carvajal. That vision and that desire to integrate opposites, which he enjoyed so much, was a complete novelty for us, because in those years we had professors with totally different profiles."
During the workshop, the speakers reflected on Javier Carvajal's understanding of space, light, and the relationship between tradition and modernity, highlighting his intellectual rigor, artistic sensibility, and role as professor.
