Ana Sesma is 22 years old, speaks English, French and German and has just finished her programs of study Degree in Nursing + International Nursing Program (INP). Together with her, 14 other students from the School Nursing program of the University of Navarra and 40 students from six international universities, participated last May in the Nursing Summer School, a program of the School that allows to explore the main challenges of nursing today, as well as the possibility of comparing health systems in an intercultural context.

This course, taught entirely in English for one week, is open to all students of the universities with which the School de Enfermería has signed agreements. In this edition, students from Birmingham City University, Indiana University Purdue, Univeristy Indianapolis, University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, University of Pennsylvania, University of Stirling and the University of Tennessee have attended. On the other hand, this program also includes the participation of all those students who are taking the Degree program together with the INP at the University of Navarra, which allows them a cultural and professional enrichment in their nursing training : "It has been a very good and enriching experience. You learn from other students and professionals who come from different parts of the world their way of working and the way they conceive our activity" adds Sesma.

"The session by Amparo Zaragoza and Ana Choperena was one of the ones that most caught my attention," emphasizes Sesma, "it dealt with the care and relationship between the nurse and the patient, allowing us to delve more deeply into the interpersonal relationship that exists in our profession". However, in addition to training, other activities of cultural subject were also organized, such as visiting Olite, San Sebastian or Pamplona, and other moments of discernment for which the students of the School were the hosts of the international group .

Campus international

Ana Sesma, who will start in October the specialization program in ICU in the Clínica Universidad de Navarrahas done an internship in the United States thanks to the INP that she has studied together with her programs of study of Degree.

Finally, a recommendation for all those who are going to take the NSS: "I would tell them to get involved in it, because in one week you get a lot out of the time and you get to know many other aspects of nursing that make it worthwhile."
