EL GRISO organizes in Coimbra an international congress on the critique of power in the Iberian world (16th-16th centuries)

Held at the University of Coimbra, it is part of the series of conferences on "Authority and Power".

The Portuguese Literature Center of the University of Coimbra, the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia and the group de research Siglo de Oro (GRISO) of the University of Navarra, together with the universities of Münster, Oxford and Paris 3-Sorbonne Nouvelle, have co-organized the International congress "Authority and Power in the Golden Age. The critique of power in the Iberian world (16th-17th centuries)", held in Coimbra (Portugal).

Some thirty researchers from Spain, Portugal, France, England and Germany participated in the meeting . The School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra was represented by GRISO professors and researchers Ignacio Arellano, J. Enrique Duarte, Andrés Eichmann, Jesús María Usunáriz, Alejandro Loeza and Adrián J. Sáez. On the occasion of the congress, the Library Services General of the Universidade de Coimbra organized the sample "De Vives a Vieira: exposição bibliográfica de Literatura ibérica dos séculos XVI e XVII", to which the congress participants made a guided visit .

Series of conferences on "Authority and Power".

It should be noted that this activity joins a series of international congresses already held on the common theme of "Authority and Power" at topic , co-organized by GRISO with the universities of Oxford (United Kingdom), Münster (Germany), Paris 3-Sorbonne Nouvelle (France), the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (Lima, Peru) and the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, United States). The next meetings in the series are planned in Lisbon (Portugal), at partnership with the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga, in February 2011; in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia), at partnership with Unión Latina, in March 2011; and in Trento (Italy), at partnership with the Università degli Studi di Trento, in April 2011.
