The Vaticanpublishing house has published the book La Diplomacia Pontificia como servicio Petrino, by Marcus Vinicius Brito de Macedo, doctor of the University of Navarra. The work corresponds to the thesis that the Brazilian priest defended a year ago at the campus of Pamplona before a tribunal presided by the then Nuncio in Spain, Manuel Monteiro de Castro.
The event of presentation, which took place in Madrid, was attended by Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino; Giuseppe Costa, from the Vatican publishing house ; and the recently retired professor of International Office Pedro Lozano Bartolozzi, who directed the work of research.
The book explains the nature and evolution of Vatican diplomacy, the figure of the Nuncios, the juridical personality of the Holy See and the participation of the Vatican in the United Nations and other international organizations. It also includes important documents, papers and other topics related to the pastoral work of the Church.
Marcus Vinicius Brito de Macedo was born in 1981 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). After studying degree program Political Science at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro with an internship in International Politics at the Office of Communication of the United Nations (Brazil), he was sent by his bishop to Spain, in 2004, to study the ecclesiastical programs of study at the University of Navarra. He combined the philosophical-theological quinquennium with the civil doctorate . At present, he combines his work at the UN with the pastoral duties of Vice President of the Diocesan seminar of Nova Friburgo and director of the Institute of Philosophy and Theology of Nova Friburgo.
