Experts from the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain will analyze the use of wood in the rehabilitation of buildings during the workshop 'Rehabilitation and sustainability', which will take place on May 22 at the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra. Aulamadera is an initiative of high school of Construction Sciences Eduardo Torroja of the Centro Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) and project 'Maderia. Construction'.

The activity is aimed at architects, technical architects, engineers and technicians in general involved in the process of rehabilitation of built heritage and, by extension, in wood construction.

Speakers will include Juan Queipo de Llano Moya, architect at high school of the Eduardo Torroja Building Science Center of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC); José Manuel Cabrero, director of the Chair Madera of the University of Navarra and the Government of Navarra; Fabio Verber, professor at the University of Trento; Rupert Oliver, director of Forest Industries Intelligence Limited; Alfonso Basterra Otero, professor at the University of Valladolid; and architect Giovanni Muzio.

Case studies
Among other topics, the technical, environmental and durability criteria for the application of materials; regulations in rehabilitation and structural timber connections will be addressed. Case studies of rehabilitation techniques and examples of existing buildings will also be discussed.

Rehabilitation and Sustainability' is supported by the Chair Madera of the University of Navarra and the Government of Navarra, the high school of Forestry Engineers and the association of Wood Entrepreneurs of Navarra. Also collaborate the Mesa Intersectorial de la Madera de Euskadi, Thermochip, Tyvek, PEFC, American Hardwood Export Council, Egurtek and Rothoblaas.
