"Situations of frustration are sometimes the best opportunity to get to know ourselves and mature," said Esteban Solano at the University of Navarra. The psychologist offered a session to the final year students of the School of Education and Psychologywho participated in the first conference of Professional Preparation organized by this center in partnership with Career Services of the University.

The expert explained that the environment sometimes puts pressure on one's expectations, and failure to meet them can lead to a feeling of frustration. However, he wanted to point out that "we know ourselves better in the bad moments, when we fail".

Solano also addressed the process of self-knowledge as the first step to evaluation and to gaining confidence in the integrating into the world of work. "The foundation of self-knowledge is twofold: on the one hand, one's own growth staff ; and on the other hand, helping others to go through it," he explained.

In this way, the students had the opportunity to reflect on their competencies through the subject Myers-Biggs indicator, which measures personality through four factors: the preferences of each subject in terms of focusing attention, the way of obtaining information, the process when making decisions, and the preference when choosing your lifestyle.

The psychologist gave examples on how to face an interview at work with a Human Resources professional: "We must capture what subject information they want to know about us and control the information we want to give". He emphasized the importance of being proactive and constantly learning: "This ability is what differentiates us from animals. As an interviewer, there is nothing more frustrating than a person without rasmia, without motivation to learn," he said.

On the other hand, he warned of the importance of being cautious with the information staff posted on social networks: "It is essential that, in a selection process, the interviewer does not have more information than you do. When you express yourself outside, you do it the way you want others to perceive: the way you dress, the way you relate to others, is taken into account in an interview." He advised that when you expose content on social networks it should always be with some intentionality.

Finally, the expert in development of people underlined what a successful professional looks like. "We are sold that professional success is having an international experience, but that is only a possible success," he clarified. Thus, he encouraged students to reflect on who and how they compare themselves to, and to which group of reference letter they belong.

Solano recommended that students analyze which group of reference letter they belong to, as well as how and with whom they compare themselves.

In addition to this session, which took place on January 17, the conference continued with a roundtable formed by different educational centers in which they tried to respond to the different profiles they are looking for when hiring new academic staff; a dynamic of group with Oniria Consulting, a consultancy service Human Resources; and a selection interview by the hand of the expert in selection of staff, Elena Unzué
