On the occasion of the feast day of Saint Raymond of Peñafort, the School of Canon Law held on January 17th an Academic workshop focused on "The contribution of Raymond of Peñafort to the doctrine of the canonical Criminal Law according to the manuscript 379 of the Library Services Municipal of Toulouse.''. Professor Bernard Callebat, professor of the School of Canon Law of the high school Catholic of Toulouse, was in charge of the session.

During the same, he explained different reasons for attributing the authorship of the content of manuscript 379 of the Municipal Library Services of Toulouse to St. Raymond of Peñafort. He also recalled the historical context in which the document was written and affirmed that "the evolution of the judicial practices of sacramental theology in the 13th century had a clear impact on the development of the justice of the Church and of justice in general".

Professor Callebat noted that St. Raymond of Peñafort was "one of the most eminent jurists of the 13th century and was the most competent in the episcopal environment of Barcelona," his hometown. He also emphasized that the interest of this document lies in "showing that the canonical matrix, through sacramental confession, contributed powerfully to the rise of judicial practices based on the search for truth, the dignity of the person and the equity of the sanction".
