Mónica Herrero, dean of School of Communication, was among the four young professors, under 41 years of age, chosen to accompany Benedict XVI down the central aisle at the end of the ceremony.

The dean exchanged a few words with the Holy Father: "When I told him that I came from the University of Navarra, he immediately responded that he was invested doctor [honoris causa] in our academic center in 1998. I told him that his person and intentions are always present in the Shrine of Our Lady of Fair Love of Our Lady of Fair Love at campus ".

Regarding the event, Mónica Herrero emphasized that it was "very joyful and enthusiastic, where the affection and support of the university professors for the Pope was demonstrated. At the same time, although it was not foreseen, he greeted people in the corridors. The intensity of his gaze was striking".

Jorge Iriarte, Dean of the School of Medicine, also participated in the meeting. As an anecdote, he told how all the professors, dressed in academic suits, waited for the arrival of the Pope in their respective places with great solemnity until the ceremony began: "As soon as he arrived, the lines were broken: many crowded in the aisles to get a better view of him".

However, he stressed that as soon as the speeches began, complete silence reigned at conference room . "It just made you want to listen," he explained. During his speech ," he added, "the Pope was very humble, overwhelmed by the expressions of affection. He looked at us as if he was praying for us".
