University celebrates Sports Day this Saturday with more than 65 activities

The University of Navarra will celebrate next Saturday, the 23rd, the Sports Day, which will offer more than 65 activities. The program will count for the first time with the incorporation of the skating discipline during a workshop that will be marked, one more edition, by solidarity as a fundamental factor.

The director of the Sports Service of the University of Navarra, Javier Trigo, has encouraged the citizens of Pamplona and Navarra to participate in this day "full of activities for all ages and that has an extensive and unhurried program".

In the XXIV Sports Day, organized in partnership with La Caixa, Caja Navarra Foundation, Decathlon, Ford Irusa, Diario de Navarra, Coca-Cola and Pamplona City Council, is expected the participation of "around 5,000 people," as indicated by the director of Sports Service.

He also wanted to thank the sponsors for their participation and the presence of Joseba Fernández from Navarre, world speed skating champion, "who will try to beat the world record in the 100-meter sprint during the Sports Day". Also competing in the event will be the skater Jonathan Galar, European Junior champion in the 100 meter sprint.

Carmelo Paniagua, president of the Spanish Skating Federation, intervened in the presentation , who pointed out that, "the Sports Day without skating was lame and from now on this activity will give a lot of play and will contribute added value to this great day that is celebrated at the University of Navarra". In addition, during the workshop will be presented the World Roller Games 2019, the world championships of the different modalities of "rollersports" to be held in Barcelona.
