"Social networks are not a fad but something that has arisen from and for the people". This was stated by Alejandro Vázquez-Guillén, director commercial Tuenti, during his speech at the congress Expopyme, which was attended by students from the School of Economics and Business Sciences of the University of Navarra.

According to this expert, social networks "have become an unstoppable phenomenon". In fact, in Spain "more than six million people spend an hour a day connected to them, so their use has become the most important activity on the Internet". In his opinion, the figures show that these tools are not just a passing thing: "More than 300 million people in the world are connected to Facebook, and Tuenti is the largest Spanish page on the Internet", he pointed out.

New utilities in professional environments

On the other hand, Alejandro Vázquez-Guillén said that social networks have evolved and show new utilities that are developed in more professional environments such as Linkedin or Xing, where human resources selections are already being made. "Precisely, its influence in all sectors has forced to divide the advertising on the Internet into three segments: traditional, results and social. The traditional advertising is the one that is made according to the content and generates audience; the one of results revolves around the search by the Username; and the social one focuses on who is that Username", he explained.

Expopyme, the most important forum organized in Spain on small and medium-sized enterprises, closes today in Baluarte. The students of the School of Economics and Business Studies have attended lectures by various speakers, including the commercial director of Microbank of La Caixa, Nuria Danés; the director of the Division of Initiation to Export and training Business of ICEX, Javier Sierra Guevara; or Maria Sanz de Galdeano, coordinator of Motivation for Entrepreneurship of the European Business and Innovation Center of Navarra.
