The group of research Science, Reason and Faith (CRYF) of the University of Navarra organized last November 18 a discussion around the book "The Mind and the Cosmos" by the American philosopher Thomas Nagelby professors Lourdes Flamarique Lourdes Flamariquefrom the School of Philosophy and Letters, and Enrique Morosfrom the School Ecclesiastic of Philosophy.
Also a professor at Philosophy José Ignacio Murillo was in charge of presenting the discussion-colloquium about this 120-page work, recently translated into Spanish.
"Mind and Cosmos. Why the neo-Darwinian materialistic conception of nature is almost certainly false" is the complete degree scroll of the book by Tomas Nagel. The author's prestige as a philosopher, and his declared atheism, has caused this text to provoke an important discussion both for its content and for its great media repercussion.
Professor Flamarique, who has participated as an advisor in the editing of Nagel's book, gave an introduction to the most relevant points of the book. Professor Moros, a connoisseur of the analytical philosophical tradition and of the discussion theism-atheism in contemporary Philosophy , presented the main criticisms received by the text.
His speeches served to open a colloquium among the speakers and attendees at seminar, among whom were, among others, the following professors Alejandro Llano y Rafael Jordana.
