The University has launched the new Sustainability and business Cluster, an initiative that seeks to offer a global vision of university research in sustainability and strengthen the partnership with the business sector through training, joint projects and knowledge transfer.
In this context, the Cluster aims to bring together all research in this subject and serve as a bridge between academia and business, facilitating access to research groups and promoting science-based strategic decision making.
The Cluster organizes its activity in eight main areas: climate change; pollution; biodiversity and ecosystems; society and environment; people, health and well-being; resource use and circular Economics ; business and governance; and communication and sustainability. Its goal is to facilitate meeting with companies and offer a direct point of contact with research groups. "It acts as a visibility channel for companies to get to know in a complete way what is being studied in sustainability at the University", explained Javier Santos, academic director of the Cluster and professor at Tecnun-School of Engineering.
Companies can be integrated into the cluster in different ways, mainly through financial support in the form of Chairs, research initiatives or strategic infrastructures such as the BIOMA Center. Depending on their level of involvement, they will gain access to research, training, events and other networking opportunities. "This initiative does not replace the relationship we already have with companies, but rather enriches and expands it in a comprehensive way," adds Santos.
