The International Lung Cancer association t Honors Dr. Luis Montuenga for His Professional Career
A scientist from the University of Navarra's " Cima " has received the " award " award for his contribution to the " research " of this disease

The International A association y for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) today presented the 2026 Adi F. Gazdar award to Dr. Luis M. Montuenga, principal researcher of the University of Navarra’sCima and Full Professor at the Schools of Sciences and Medicine. The ceremony took place this morning during the IASLC World lecture , held in Seoul, South Korea.
The IASLC’s Adi F. Gazdaraward of Merit recognizes ongoing contributions in the field of thoracic oncology. Dr. Montuenga receives this award for his career in lung cancer research, his leadership in the finding and the validation of biomarkers, and his training of future professionals dedicated to this disease. Throughout his career, he has contributed to the advancement of strategies aimed at detecting lung cancer earlier and improving patient selection and treatment. “I am deeply honored to receive this award , which, in reality, belongs to the entire team of researchers, specialists, technicians, and nurses at the area for lung cancer with whom I have collaborated over the past 30 years. They all also deserve the award,” says the researcher of the Cima.
Professor Montuenga, Full Professor of Cell Biology at the Schools of Sciences and Medicine at the University of Navarra, directs the group of Lungsearch: Screening, Early Detection, Biomarkers, and New Therapeutic Targets in Lung Cancer at the Cima and serves as principal researcher at the Cancer Center Clínica Universidad de Navarra and at the Navarre Institute of Health research s (IdiSNA), as well as head of group at the Cancer Research Network (CIBERONC) of the Carlos III Health Institute. He is also a member of the European Academy of Oncology Sciences.
