The University of Navarra has collaborated on the course on generative artificial intelligence that the Castilla-La Mancha Regional Ministry of Health offered to nearly one hundred healthcare and management professionals from its health service. The “ training,” in which Merck and IBM also participated, was organized in conjunction with the regional Digital Transformation Agency and concluded in Toledo with representatives from the University in attendance.

The course covered the fundamentals of generative AI and its applications in the healthcare field, with a special focus on the ethics, regulation, and governance necessary for safe and manager use. Participants also worked on the design of prompts to obtain more useful and higher-quality responses, and learned about specialized tools for healthcare use and their impact on attendance, management, and the organization of services.

At the closing ceremony, Health Minister Jesús Fernández Sanz emphasized that this “ training ” is not an isolated initiative, but rather part of a “ project ” to transform the healthcare system based on institutional partnerships, and he advocated for incorporating AI “judiciously, with safeguards, and in the service of the public.”

For the council member, the success of these tools will be measured by their ability to strengthen the relationship between professionals and patients: "If technology en financial aid s us to be more human, it will have been worth it."
