The rationality of the human body
seminar of the CRYF
The group of research Science, Reason and Faith(CRYF) of the University of Navarra invited Professor José Ángel Lombo to give the seminar "The rationality of the human body". D. in Philosophy from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, Lombo was introduced by Professor José Manuel Giménez Amaya with whom he is currently working on the project of research "Biology and Rationality. The human specific in the organic plane". Giménez Amaya introduced the session highlighting the interest of studying Biology and Philosophy from an interdisciplinary point of view. These two professors have already published another study graduate "The unity of the person. Aproximación interdisciplinar desde la Philosophy y la neurociencia" which was published in EUNSA.
Biology has always considered the rationality of man as a central study topic ; what does the human body have that makes us think about its rationality. Professor Lombo throughout the session referred to Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas as two thinkers who analyzed the rationality that occurs in the totality of the body. The speaker divided his exhibition into three parts: the substantial unity and living body; corporeality and rationality; and how the substantial unity between body and soul unfolds in time (development of the human being).
It remains to analyze human action interdisciplinarily. This is what they intend to do in the future, with particular emphasis on habits and the phenomenon of attention.
