University of Alberta team wins at UNICC 2016
The four finalist teams of this year's edition came from Canadian universities: Concordia, Simon Fraser and Hec Montreal.

Kiana Remagni, Bianca Barry, Adam Purdon, Troy Minogue and their coach, Douglas Leong, scored more points than their rivals in the summary of the week. They were joined on the podium by Concordia University and Simon Fraser; the fourth finalist was HEC Montreal, all from Canada and with exchange agreements in place with the School in Economics, which allow students to carry out academic stays at their campus.
A total of 80 students from 10 countries competed last week at the University of Navarra to win the first award of the fifth edition of the case competition organized by the School of Economics. The director of the International area of the School, Mari Carmen Bielza, highlighted the "experience of receiving students from so many different countries and cultures", as well as "the companies that have participated as jurors, with the financial aid of our students, who have been very involved both in the management of the event and in welcoming their colleagues".
The case competition is an international league of competitions based on the case method: teams are given a real problem that has affected a business and must present an original, creative, ethical and useful solution to a jury. To do so, they must apply their knowledge in Economics, finance, business, marketing, communication, public speaking...
Students from 16 universities are participating in this edition. One from Egypt, the American University in Cairo; three from Asia: The University of Hong Kong, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and Chulalongkorn University in Thailand; two from Oceania, Queensland University of Technology (New Zealand) and the University of Otago, also from New Zealand. From North America come the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of South Carolina, the University of Washington (all three from the USA) and the John Molson School of Business, Hec Montréal, the Alberta School of Business, the Lazaridis School of Business and Simon Fraser University (Canada). Finally, two European universities: Université Libre de Burxelles and the host, the University of Navarra.
Competition weekThe qualifying rounds took place on Monday and Tuesday at Amigos Building, where they presented cases for which they had three hours of preparation. On Wednesday they had the day off to get to know Navarra and in preparation for Thursday, when they spent 24 hours of concentration without leaving the hotel to prepare the final case, which was presented on Friday and decided the winner of UNICC 2016.
Although most of the time was devoted to academic competition, the team of students who organized the event also organized recreational activities, which were useful for foreign students to get to know Navarre and its culture: routes through monumental Pamplona and the Old Quarter, meals in cider houses, visits to museums and wineries, trips to San Sebastian... an invitation for this first visit to contact with the region to be just the beginning of a long-term relationship deadline.
