On May 17 took place in Sestao (Vizcaya) the X Course and Open kendo Sestao City Council, which was attended by clubs from Vitoria, Sestao, San Sebastian and Pamplona.
On behalf of the University of Navarra, Javier Armendáriz went alone and, for the 3-person team competition, he completed his team with another participant from the Sestao club.
After a qualifying group between all the participating teams, the team from the University of Navarra won a bronze medal together with the Shindokai club from Vitoria. The final was disputed between the team of the Fudoshin club of San Sebastian and one of the teams of the Taikenkai club of Sestao, the latter being the winner of the championship.
As a special detail in this tenth edition of the Open, a fragment of the old rail track of the Portugalete Suspension Bridge, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2006, was given as a trophy to the winners.
