El Papa nombra cardenal a Walter Brandmüller, miembro del consejo asesor de la revista de la Universidad de Navarra ‘Anuario de Historia de la Iglesia’
The Pope appoints Walter Brandmüller, member of committee advisor of the University of Navarra's journal 'yearbook de Historia de la Iglesia', as a cardinal.
Both he and José Manuel Estepa, who was interviewed by the publication, will be non-electoral members of the Conclave because they are over 80 years of age.
Pope Benedict XVI has announced the 24 new cardinals who will be officially appointed at the consistory convened for November 20. Among them is Walter Brandmüller, president emeritus of the Pontifical committee of Historical Sciences and member of the committee advisor of the magazine yearbook of Church History, which since 1992 has been published annually by the School of Theology of the University of Navarra. An interview with him was published in the 2000 volume.
Also featured is José Manuel Estepa, military archbishop emeritus of Spain, who was interviewed by the publication of the University of Navarra after participating in the elaboration of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Both personalities are over 80 years old, so they will be non-electoral members of the Conclave. As the Pope pointed out, they have been elevated to the cardinal dignity "for their generosity and dedication to the service of the Church".
