A graduate from the University of Navarra obtains a Miguel Servetus for the research

Jesús María Bañales, Adjunct Professor of the School of Sciences, has achieved the best contract of research in Spain.

Jesús María Bañales, graduate in Biochemistry by the University of Navarra, has obtained the research Miguel Servet contract awarded by the high school Carlos III. This is the best financial aid to the research in Spain. The biochemist, who received his Ph. CIMA D. at the University of Navarra and carries out his research in the section of liver diseases of the high school of research Sanitaria de Biodonostia, will receive 350,000 euros to study cholangiocarcinoma, a subject cancer that affects the liver.

Jesús María Bañales is Adjunct Professor of the University of Navarra and the Mayo Clinic in the United States. He has done research stays in Paris, the University of Colorado and the Mayo Clinic. He is currently the head of area of Liver Diseases at high school of research Biodonostia. In 2012 he was awarded by the association Española contra el Cáncer with 135,000 euros to develop his work.
