Ramón Salaverría, new member of the Academia Europaea

The University's Journalism Full Professor has been selected by the members of this institution, which includes 85 Nobel laureates.

Ramón Salaverría, Full Professor of Journalism at the University of Navarra, has been elected as a new member of the Academia Europaea. Based in London, this is the main Academy of Sciences of the continent, which is accessed by invitation of its members and on the basis of a rigorous selection process. It brings together European researchers of the highest prestige in various scientific areas, including 85 Nobel Prize winners.

Created in 1988, the Academia Europaea is currently made up of 5,000 researchers, of which just over 200 are Spanish. The Academy is a non-profit institution whose members promote learning, Education and research at the highest level. Each year it appoints new members to its 23 scientific sections, covering Humanities, Social Sciences, Exact Sciences and Life Sciences.

In recognition of his international career and contributions to research on journalism and digital media, Ramón Salaverría will join the "Film, average and visual studies" section. Along with Full Professor from the University of Navarra, 9 other European researchers working at universities in the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden and the Czech Republic have been selected for this section this year. After the new additions, the section now has 116 members.

Salaverría will be inducted into the Academia Europaea in Wroclaw, Poland, on November 26th. Once his admission is formalized, the professor of the University of Navarra will collaborate with the Academy in its objectives of promote the European research , advising governments and international organizations on scientific issues and promoting the interdisciplinary research .

Ramón Salaverría is the third researcher from the University of Navarra to join the organization, after Joan Enric Ricart Costa, professor at IESE, elected in 2021, and María Blanco Prieto, professor at School of Pharmacy and Nutrition, appointed in 2022.
