A project of the School of Nursing receives in Barcelona a award in research neurological.
The 'ReNACE' study of the University of Navarra analyzes the Parkinson's transition process.
The project 'ReNACE' of research on Parkinson's, directed by Dr. Mª Carmen Portillo, from the School of Nursing of the University of Navarra, has received the recognition of the XVII Annual meeting of the Spanish Society of Neurological Nursing that took place on November 18 and 19 in Barcelona with the awarding of the first award in the XIV edition of the special award for the best project of research of Neurological Nursing.
The "project ReNACE" (Recovery, Normalization, Acceptance and Coexistence with Illness) is an ambitious project that has recently been created to investigate the process of coexistence and integration of chronic illness in the lives of patients and family/caregivers. In the project "ReNACE" team researcher, aims to design, implement, and evaluate tailored interventions led by nurses together with multidisciplinary health teams, working in various contexts and with populations with different chronic diseases that require long-term care as in the field of Neurology.
Specifically, for the project that was submitted to this competition, we will work with patients with Parkinson's disease and their relatives/caregivers due to the great psychosocial relevance of this disease, which is also very relevant for this line of research. Specifically this project has as its main goal to know in depth the process of transition to living with Parkinson's disease of patients and family/caregivers, and the factors that inhibit or promote the process. In the project presented to this call, a mixed-methods methodology will be used in which both qualitative and quantitative methods will be employed.
The project, carried out at partnership with the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and the Navarra Health Service (Osasunbidea) is directed by Dr. Mª Carmen Portillo and the researcher team is formed by:
