19 students from the University of Navarra's School School of Business and Economics participated for the first time in Boston in the Harvard National Model United Nations, an event that simulates the dynamics of proposals, meetings, negotiations and resolutions of the United Nations.
This is a conference program in which university students simulate working in different UN committees representing a country. The University of Navarra students, who were 'ambassadors' for Djibouti, were part of committees where proposals and initiatives on Economics, society, human rights, disarmament, etc. were discussed.
Ainhoa Barrenechea, 4th year student of the double bilingual degree program of Economics and Law, was awarded as representative of foreign relations in the Mexican Cabinet. Her work was recognized with the award for the best delegate of her committee ahead of students from the University of Chicago and UCLA.
The Harvard National Model United Nations, now in its 56th edition, brought together 3,000 students from five continents from academic centers such as Yale, Pennsylvania, UC Berkeley, Hong Kong, Bocconi and Utrecht, among others, in addition to the University of Navarra and the University of Salamanca, the only Spanish representatives. During their stay in Boston, the students were also able to get to know the campus university as well as Harvard's summer programs, students and professionals.
