One workshop of the University analyzes the use of Big Data by companies such as Google or Amazon

In this activity of the ICS and the School of Economics will also be presented a tool to make claims and detect fraud.

The Statistics Unit of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) and the School of Economics of the University of Navarra are organizing the I workshop of Big Data on Friday, March 24. It will feature experts from the Basque Institute of Statistics (EUSTAT), the consulting firm EY Barcelona and the London headquarters of the consulting firm Everis.

Throughout the event, Big Data will be analyzed as tool for research, in addition to a practical workshop on analysis and use by users and companies. Finally, a tool will be presented to detect fraud.

The workshop will start with the discussion paper of Jorge Aramendi and Javier San Vicente, from department of Methodology, Innovation and research and development of EUSTAT. They will present the results of their first case study in the field of Big Data, which has analyzed the daily series of hotel room prices, looking at the advantages and disadvantages of hotel comparators.

Next, Enric Farguell Matesanz, senior Manager of area Data Science at EY Barcelona, will offer a workshop on tools for Big Data analysis. Attendees will see how big companies such as Google or Amazon use it, and will be shown tools (R and RShiny) that the Username can use to analyze it.

The event will be closed by Pablo Urruchi, consultant analytics at Everis in London, who will present a tool he has developed to make claims and detect fraud.
