85 students from the University's 18th class of Alumni scholarship holders celebrate graduation

This academic year, 426 university students are studying at programs of study thanks to donations from more than 6000 alumni, companies and institutions.

85 students from the XVIII promotion of the University of Navarra's Alumni Scholarships Program celebrated their graduation at the classroom Magna of Central Building. The ceremony, presided over by the Vice President of Students, Rosalía Baena, was attended by Igor Errasti, Administrator of the University; José Hermida, Associate Dean of Alumni of the School of Medicine and sponsor of the promotion; and Eduardo Muñoz, student of Philology Hispanic and representative of the scholarship recipients.

A total of 426 young people are studying this year at programs of study thanks to the Alumni Scholarships programme, aimed at students with good grades transcript who wish to study at the University of Navarra. The budget programme, which has now been running for 18 years, is worth more than 3 million euros for this academic year, with an average amount of 7,306 euros per scholarship. 

The initiative is financed thanks to the contributions of more than 6000 alumni, companies and institutions, including Banco Santander, through Santander Universities; Caja Rural de Navarra, IEISA Foundation, the association of Friends of the University of Navarra, Banco Pichincha, Bolar Foundation, Beraumberri and ONCE Foundation. 

A commitment to educating students to change the world

The Vice President Rosalía Baena remarked the value of the scholarship holders: "It would be useless to sow if the soil were not good. The University has bet on you so that now you will be people who seek to change the world for the better". For his part, José Hermida spoke of the mission statement that students should have now that they have finished the Degree: "The fruit of the tree is not for the benefit of the tree itself, but for others. It must be collected and distributed. You are the fruit of the University, and now you must go out and benefit other people with everything you have learned here".

The Administrator of the University transmitted to them in his speech the goal and the purpose of the project Alumni Scholarships : "You are students who have earned the trust of the University and of the donors. We are confident that you can help the rest of society with what you have received". Finally, Eduardo Muñoz, representing the scholarship holders, spoke of the joy of having been part of this programme: "For us it is not only a duty to say thank you, but also a source of pride. We leave with our heads held high for having been part of this University".
