In these last few weeks of confinement, the home has become the space where we carry out all our activities: work, study, play, play sports. But, what are the characteristics of our domestic spaces? To delve into the most relevant features of Navarrese houses, the Chair of Heritage and Navarrese Art of the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra proposes today, on the Book Day, the reading of "Heritage and family: the house and the domestic space in Navarra". 

Written by Pilar Andueza, the book offers a tour of the most relevant characteristics of the domestic architecture of the Comunidad Foral. With a broad vision and from different perspectives, it deals with various aspects of the traditional home and allows us to approach daily life, enter its interior and peek into its kitchen, bedrooms or living rooms, in the case of the wealthiest families. "The new programs of study of the house and domestic space from a triple perspective, material, social and cultural, are offering results of great interest and relevance, largely linked to the analysis of everyday life," says Andueza.

Thus, the work uncovers a house that shares many elements with the constructions of other peninsular areas, mainly linked to the use, function, furnishings or tools employee. However, in the peninsular panorama, the Navarrese house also offers numerous peculiarities, such as its typological and morphological variety, the great contrasts between the different geographical areas, or its legal features that, combined, make it different and even, in some of its aspects, unique. With this book, readers will be able to delve into the Navarrese house through the types of dwelling and their denomination in the documentation, the factors that influenced their conformation, their functionality, as well as their legal nature, to conclude with the relationship between daily family life and the domestic space.
