Opening Ceremony of academic year of postgraduate program of Tecnun

During the ceremony, the School's director praised Tecnun's role in the training integral development of professionals with a spirit of service, a vocation for continuous improvement, responsibility and ethics.

This morning took place the Academicofficial opening of the academic year of postgraduate program 2024-2025 with a total of 391 students from Master's Degree. In his speech, the director of the School, Raúl Antón, highlighted the role of Tecnun in the integral training of "engineers with a spirit of service, a vocation for continuous improvement, capable of making decisions responsibly and driven by professional ethics".

Antón thanked the partnership of the institutions that trust in the project educational of the University and in the impact of the research that is developed in the 4 Departments of research. "All this allows us to contribute our grain of sand to the strategic plan of the governmental entities of Euskadi," he said.

He also highlighted the 10,500 students who have been trained at the School over six decades, of whom 6,500 are working in Gipuzkoa. "Tecnun's vocation is to be rooted in and at the service of Gipuzkoa," he stressed.

The inaugural lecture was given at position by the CEO of Eosol, Bruno Bernal, former student of Tecnun, who encouraged the young people to embrace the present and "live the University with capital letters", just as he did during his time at the School of Engineering. Bernal stressed the importance of trusting in oneself in order to achieve success staff and professionally, "but without forgetting to listen to your elders". "Believing you are capable of doing something is not incompatible with knowing your weaknesses and recognizing that there are people who know more than you or have more experience than you," said Bernal. 

During the closing ceremony, the Vice President of research and Sustainability, Paloma Grau, focused on service as the "axis of professional activity" and invited the attendees to reflect on the "ambition to serve". "I encourage you to incorporate service in your daily work and to give a transcendent purpose to work", she said. He also stressed the importance of learning to detect opportunities where others see threats, to be excited about the small work and to rediscover its value: "Small things lead us to big things," he concluded.

Throughout the workshop the Extraordinary Awards of doctorate were given to Iñigo Martínez, Amaia Aramburu and Daniel Talán.
