The University's Nursing School presents the cycle "A 3 bandas".

The program consists of 3 Advanced internship Nursing in Oncology conversations that will take place in January, February and March 2022.

The School of Nursing of the University of Navarra presents the cycle "A 3 bands" on the occasion of the launch of the new Master's Degree in internship Advanced Nursing in Oncology. A lecture series whose purpose is to address the health challenge that cancer represents in society, and how the internship Advanced can contribute in the care of the oncology patient. There will be different nursing professionals in this field. 

 "With this series of talks we intend to raise awareness of the role of the Advanced internship nurse in Oncology. We will do so by describing the different competencies that it develops, relying on the experience of the School of Nursing that has been training these professionals for more than ten years", explains Mercedes Pérez Díez del Corral, dean of the School of Nursing.

The talks will begin on January 12 with the session "Clinical leadership and consultancy service ", given by Antonia María Rodríguez, nurse at internship Advanced Oncology at the University Hospital Torrecárdenas (Almería). This first session will address the competencies of clinical leadership and the consultancy service, the management of care, expert clinical judgment, health promotion and the partnership and interprofessional relationship. 

The series will continue on February 24 with the session "Mentoring and Autonomy", at position by Ana Rosa Martos, Oncology Nurse at the Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital in Malaga; Antonio Ramon Garcia, Oncology Nurse at the University Hospital of Puerto Real, Cadiz; and Jorgina Serra, PhD student and Nurse at internship Advanced Oncology at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona. Finally, on March 11, the session "management of Quality and Patient Safety" will be given by Isabel Mañas, nurse of internship Advanced Palliative Care in a Palliative Care Support Team in Primary Care (ESCP-AP) in Seville.

In Spain, cancer is one of the main causes of mortality and the annual number of diagnosed cases continues to grow. "This reality affects thousands of people and their families, so nursing professionals are expected to be prepared to become the leaders and coordinators of the complex treatment and care teams that this disease requires," comments Navidad Canga, manager of the Master's Degree in internship Advanced Nursing in Oncology of the School de Enfermería. 

This new program of postgraduate program will be taught next year 22-23 at the University of Navarra's campus in Madrid, and will focus on training professionals on competencies such as decision making in complex cases, research, coordination, partnership and ethics and transformational leadership.
