The School of Nursing of the University of Navarra has awarded for the first time the extraordinaryaward of doctorate. Specifically, this recognition has been granted to Professor Leire Ambrosio for her thesis "design and validation of a scale for measuring Degree of coexistence in patients with Parkinson's disease", defended during the last academic year.

The work, which is part of the area of research of "Chronic processes and end-of-life care" of the academic center and, specifically, of the ReNACE program, provides a new tool that makes it possible to identify quickly and easily what aspect or aspects make the person live better or worse with the disease and, consequently, to design individualized interventions taking into account the specific needs of each person.

The doctoral thesis has been directed by Mª Carmen Portillo, professor of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Southampton, and co-directed by Pablo Martínez Martín, researcher scientist of the National Center of Epidemiology of the high school of Health Carlos III, and Ana Carvajal, professor of the School of Nursing of the University of Navarra.

"I feel very grateful for the jury's evaluation and also grateful to all those people who have supported me throughout this complex but wonderful process," the professor explained. "However, the greatest award is what this award symbolizes: the growth of the School of Nursing and the milestone of achieving an own doctoral program with its consequent verifications."
