The high school Superior de Ciencias Religiosas (ISCR) of the University of Navarra has published Escritos joánicos y cartas católicas, the twentieth volume of the 'Colección Manuales del ISCR'. Published by EUNSA, it has been written by professors Juan Chapa and Pablo González-Alonso.

The guide Johannine Writings and Catholic Letters is devoted to the study of a large part of the New Testament in which it is easy for the reader to become familiar with the main teaching of each letter and to know, almost chapter by chapter, the contents of the chapter of John and of Revelation.

The book explains on the back cover that if the Gospels are, according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, "the heart of all the Scriptures", John's Gospel is like the summit of the four, to which one ascends after reading the Synoptic Gospels and from which one contemplates and understands in depth the other Gospels and New Testament writings. Tradition has also attributed to John four other books, three letters and a prophetic writing, the Apocalypse, which complete the body of Johannine writings. The Catholic letters, those of Peter, James and Jude, in addition to those of John, collect and transmit the apostolic tradition in a period of expansion and consolidation of doctrine.

Juan Chapa is Full Professor of New Testament at the School of Theology of the University of Navarra and member of committee of essay of the Holy Bible prepared by the same School. Pablo González-Alonso is professor teaching assistant of New Testament at the School of Theology of the University of Navarra.

The 'ISCR Manuals Collection' is aimed at parents, catechists and formators, teachers of religion or professionals from different fields who feel the need to improve their own training. The books published so far are the following: Introduction to Theology, Ethics, Mariology, Philosophy of Science, Pauline Writings, Pentateuch and Historical Books, Theological Anthropology, Synoptic Gospels and Acts of the Apostles, Mystery of God, Ecclesiology, Theology of Creation, Prophetic Books, Poetic and Sapiential Books, Morals of the Person: the Virtues, Philosophy of the Person, Fundamental Morals, Theology of the mission statement, Christology and Introduction to the Philosophy.
