Center for Olympic programs of study is inaugurated at the University of Navarra
Professionals such as Juan Antonio Corbalán and Bernardino Lombao emphasize the importance of sportsmen and women acquiring a training
The University of Navarra celebrated today the inauguration of the Center programs of study Olympic programs of study (CEO). Fruit of the signature a partnership agreement between the Spanish Olympiccommittee , the Spanish Olympic Academy and the university institution, its goal is to ensure the acquisition, preservation and dissemination of the Spanish Olympic heritage.
The workshop began with the inaugural lecture by Conrado Durantez, director of the Spanish Olympic Academy, on the "Humanistic and Cultural Factors of Sport". This was followed by the roundtable "From London 2012 to Madrid 2020", which discussed Madrid's bid for the Olympic Games and the possibility of Spain hosting this sporting event again in the near future. Ricardo Leiva, director of the Spanish Olympic committee ; Juan Antonio Villanueva, journalist of Marca Televisión and of the "Madrid 2016" Communication Team; or Javier Izu, journalist of Radio Nacional and president of the Sports Journalistsassociation of Navarra, took part, among others, in this roundtable.
With the degree scroll "University and Sport", a second roundtable closed the workshop. Focused on the topic of the combination of sport and academic training , it welcomed the interventions of Bernardino Lombao, sportsman and physical trainer, who declared that "although it is very difficult for sportsmen and women to follow a normal program programs of study , it is important for them to have a training". Or Juan Antonio Corbalán, former basketball player of the Spanish National Team and Real Madrid, who stated that "society has to transmit sport as an end, not as a means for enrichment". Félix Monreal,attachment director of Diario de Noticias, and Carla Sariol, representing the Barcelona Olympic Foundation, also participated.
On behalf of the University, Alfonso Sánchez Tabernero, Vice President of International Relations of the University of Navarra, thanked the Spanish Olympic committee , the Government of Navarra, the City Council of Pamplona and Caja Navarra for their partnership with the project. He declared that "the University has a lot to contribute to the world of sport".
Olympic programs of study Center
There are currently 25 Olympic programs of study Centers in Spain. Created at the initiative of the Spanish Olympic Academy with the aim of disseminating the values of sport in the university environment, their main objectives are the dissemination of the values of sport, the study and research of sport in university centers and the integration of its study into university activities.
For its part, the Center for Olympic programs of study at the University of Navarra, which is part of its Sports Service, aims to integrate as many university disciplines as possible with sport. To this end, it will generate partnership links with the various Schools and Schools on campus.
