Ana Zúñiga from Estella, professor and researcher at the School of Education and Psychology of the University of Navarra, has been recognized with the award TC/12 for the best doctoral thesis defended in 2014 on Classical theatrical heritage of Spain.
Her work 'Mujer y poder en el teatro español del Siglo de Oro: la figura de la reina', directed by Professor Miguel Zugasti at the framework de las líneas de research del group de research Siglo de Oro (GRISO), unanimously received the grade of A cum laude.

Ana Zúñiga, PhD in Philology from the University of Navarra, analyzes in her thesis the character of the powerful woman in 295 golden plays, in which 226 figures appear: 206 queens and 20 princesses and infantas. The study begins with an introduction in which she reflects on the concepts of authority and power, and on the vision of women at that time; specifically, of the reigning female figure. Thanks to this award, the author will be able to publish her work in three volumes throughout 2015.

The TC/12 is a macro-project of research of classical theater integrated in the ministerial project Consolider (National Plan research and development+i). Its main objectives are the systematic edition and in-depth study of Spanish classical theater; the creation and application of new technologies in its research; the implementation of a digital collection of European classical theater; and the transfer of its research through the partnership with scientific and cultural institutions. In this way, the TC/12 intends to place Spanish classical theater in the new global network of cultural references.
