Participation of Professor Araceli Arellano at the 5th conference on Family and Intellectual Disability
Arellano made a discussion paper on the positive impact of disability on the family.
Professor Araceli Arellano Torres participated in the "5th conference of Family and Intellectual Disability: Positive Approaches in Intellectual Disability", held on April 17 and 18, organized by the Chair Family and Disability: Fundación Repsol-Down Madridof the Pontifical University of Comillas.
At conference , a variety of topics were discussed, always from a perspective focused on the strengths and resources of people with disabilities and their families. In this sense, projects and research were presented that seek to change the way we look at this population, incorporating the advances that are being made in areas such as positive psychology or resilience. Professor Arellano participated in the roundtable "Families in positive: family resilience and disability" with the discussion paper "The positive impact of disability in the family". The presentation discussed some of the research and literature on gains from disability in families. It highlighted the idea of how living with a person with a disability can become a learning and enriching source , despite the physical and emotional toll it takes.
