Miguel Zugasti (TriviUN), coordina el volumen <i>Miradas al teatro virreinal: la preeminencia del texto</i>

Professor Miguel Zugasti publishes in Boston (USA), within the Revista de Crítica Literaria Latinoamericana (year XLVI, no. 92, 2020, 326 pp.), a monographic Issue graduate Miradas al teatro virreinal: la preeminencia del texto. There are a total of fourteen essays that study viceroyal Hispanic theater in all its extension, both geographically (from Mexico, Ecuador and Argentina to the Philippines) and chronologically (from the 16th to the 19th century). The authors come from universities in Spain, Mexico, USA, Philippines, Switzerland, Ecuador and Argentina, with approaches that embrace the evangelizing theater, the commercial and the spectacularity of the party, but also the indigenous look, the weight of censorship, the figure of the gracioso or the first glimpses of pre-romanticism.

The book is a core part of the objectives of project Teatro, fiesta y cultura visual en la monarquía hispánica (ss. XVI-XVIII). Phase II, of which Professor Miguel Zugasti is researcher Principal, and which is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economics, Industry and Competitiveness (MINECO), Agencia Estatal de research, Fondos FEDER, with reference letter FFI2017-86801-P. Other members of the team signing their respective articles here are J. Javier Azanza López, Antonio Cortijo Ocaña, Paloma Vargas Montes and Ana Zúñiga Lacruz.
