The University of Navarra celebrated the feast day of St. Josemaría Escrivá, founder of Opus Dei and the university. Hundreds of people attended the Mass held at the Cathedral of Pamplona, presided over by Carlos García del Barrio, vicar of the Opus Dei delegation in Navarra.

In his homily, the vicar referred to the centennial of Opus Dei, which will be celebrated on October 2, 2028, and recalled that the prelate, Monsignor Fernando Ocáriz, has proposed “preparing spiritually for that moment by meditating on the example of the early Christians: men and women of all walks of life and backgrounds who bore witness to their faith in Jesus Christ to the point of transforming society.”

"Frequently reminding ourselves that we are children of God will help us overcome the obstacles we encounter along the way with good spirits," he emphasized. In this regard, he recalled Pope Leo XIV’s trip to Spain, during which he noted that "over the centuries, Christians have lived in all subject societies," navigating the changes in the cultures they have shared in and helped shape.

The feast day of St. Josemaría Escrivá, which is usually celebrated at the University of sports center , has been moved to the Cathedral this year due to the high temperatures.

The money raised will go toward the project Cubaproject , a project promoted by the NGO Actúa Siglo XXI, whose goal is to alleviate status extreme poverty faced by the Cuban people and to support the Catholic Church in Cuba, which is working to mitigate this situation.
