15 students from the University of Navarra participate in an International Mentoring Program with scientists from the U.S. and Europe.

15 students from the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra will participate in the International Mentoring Program promoted by the association of Spanish Scientists in the USA (ECUSA).

The goal of this initiative is to contribute to the professional training and the creation of networks work between new generations of Spanish scientists with researchers based in prestigious centers in the USA: Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston University, Johns Hopkins University, University of North Carolina or the Karolinksa Institutet in Europe. The University of Navarra is one of the five Spanish academic centers present in this initiative.

In this first submission of project, 7 students of 4th year of Degree in Biochemistry and 8 students of doctorate in research Biomedical selected for their academic trajectory will take part. Each student will have a advisor staff who will provide advice through videoconference and e-mail interviews.

As stated by Zafira Castaño Corsino, founder and director of the Program and former student of the School of Sciences, "the University of Navarra has been chosen to join this initiative because it has been an inspiration for the project ". As she explains, "after talking to Dean, Luis Montuenga, and learning about the University's desire to increase internationalization , I believed that thanks to my experience and contacts with researchers we could create something new and different to help Spanish universities".

"All of us researchers participating in this program can help future generations of scientists by making them more competitive. We have tried to be impartial and to favor the internationalization of the University by improving the training of the students who make it up," he says.

The International Counseling Program covers aspects such as the definition of objectives in the professional degree program , the increase of communication skills, public image or the development of complementary activities, among others.

Its goal is to improve the training of university students by creating a safe, confidential and innovative advising environment, as well as to establish, develop and emphasize a relationship with advisors throughout their professional life. It is also supported by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).
